1) I am pleased at the first drafts: you have clearly attempted to capture the tone of an Empire magazine article.

2) I am, however, concerned at the amount of copying and pasting (or copying and pasting andchanging a few words”) that appears to have taken place. This is not acceptable. You must credit your sources (see below) and put quotations from websites in quotation marks (see below). If you have used a website in any way at all, you must credit it (see below). You risk failing your GCSEs in all subjects if you plagiarise.

3) You also need to remember that it’s not enough to write a plot summary. Anyone can cut and paste off Wikipedia and change a few words around. You are writing to Analyse, Comment and Review. You are writing to explain why you have chosen your films and why they are the best examples of your chosen genre or aspect of film. Some of you have not done this and it has affected your mark.

4) You must edit your final draft exactly as indicated. I have spent a very long time annotating your first drafts and your mark will suffer if you do not follow my advice.

5) You must include a heading entitled ‘Sources’ or ‘Bibliography’ at the end of your article. If you have not used any in any way at all, write ‘None’. If you have used a website in any way at all, you must put in the full web address. This...
