In your group of 4 or 5, you will be performing and improvised scene based on Titus Andronicus. Imagine you are a modern version of one of the characters from the play. Choose from the following two groups:
1. Titus Andronicus
Lavinia (before she has her tongue cut out!)
Marcus Andronicus (Titus’s brother)
Lucius (Titus’s son)
Young Lucius (Lucius’s son)
2. Tamora
Chiron
Demetrius
Aaron
Saturninus
If you choose Group 1, improvise a scene lasting 3-4 minutes where you discuss the problems caused by the election of the new emperor and by Tamora and the invading Goths. Make sure you develop each character fully and use language appropriate to each character’s age, personality, attitude and situation. The language should be modern and can include slang, but you must demonstrate the ability to develop a fully rounded character, based on the play.
If you choose Group 2, improvise a scene lasting 3-4 minutes where you discuss the opportunities presented to you by the election of the new emperor and the problems caused by Titus and his family. Make sure you develop each character fully and use language appropriate to each character’s age, personality, attitude and situation. The language should be modern and can include slang, but you must demonstrate the ability to develop a fully rounded character, based on the play.
