Romeo and Juliet

What happens between Act 1 Scene 1 and Act 3 Scene 1?

Act 1 Scene 1

Sampson, Gregory, Abraham and Balthasar fight. Tybalt enters to fight and Benvolio tries to keep the peace. The Prince warns the citizens not to fight on pain of death. The Montague parents wonder where Romeo is. Romeo and Benvolio discuss the trouble of love.

Act 1 Scene 2

Lord Capulet and Paris discuss the possibility of Paris marrying Juliet. Capulet sends a servant out with the party invitations. The servant meets Romeo and Benvolio; Romeo sees the name of Rosaline (his love) on the list and the two Montagues end up being invited to the party.

Act 1 Scene 3

Lady Capulet discusses the idea of marrying Paris with Juliet. Juliet replies dutifully to her mother, but we can tell she isn’t particularly impressed by the idea.

Act 1 Scene 4

Romeo and his friends prepare for the party but Romeo has a sense that something terrible is going to happen.

Act 1 Scene 5

At the party, Romeo and Juliet meet and kiss. After they have parted, each finds out that the other is a deadly enemy and is distraught.

Act 2 Scene 1 and 2

Having left the party, Romeo decides he must go back and find Juliet, even though his friends mock him. He finds her at her window and they declare their love for each other. They agree that Juliet will send someone to meet him at 9 the next morning to...
