What you need to improve:
- Integrate brief cross reference between the two poems throughout your essay – don’t just compare them at the end
- Use poetic terminology much more, e.g. metaphor, simile, alliteration, stanza, onomatopoeia, but make sure it is accurate and enhances your analysis – there is no point in feature-spotting!
- Focus on the question – don’t just copy down all your notes without paying attention to the question
- Address the key words of the question in your answer
- To gain an A, include an argument in your essay, develop your analysis further and show empathy with the writer
